The European Poetry Festival celebrates, in the UK and beyond, the grand resurgence in avant-garde and literary poetry that has marked the 21st century in Europe. This is the festival’s fifth edition which will be a free-to-attend celebration of literary liveness and cross-linguistic collective inventiveness. It runs for 3 weeks from 15 June and it features 15 events focussing on various countries, bringing together 150 poets from across Europe.
This year one of the events brings Finnish poetry to London on 23 June. The Finnish Poetry Celebration will take place at Candid Arts from 7.30 pm. The event, curated by SJ Fowler, is a celebration of contemporary Finnish poetry through collaboration and performance. The featured poets include Sini Silveri, Milka Luhtaniemi, and many more.
Finnish poets visit London to share their work with brand new collaborations, made for the event, with British-based counterparts. Supported by a fantastic array of European poets, also sharing new works in duos, this event will showcase the vital, vivid and innovative poetry of one of Europe’s most expansive poetry scenes.
