How could the internet become a safe and nurturing haven? What are feminist alternatives to the harsh digital realities today?
Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö will discuss the topic with three London based artists Katriona Beales, Anna Bunting and Rebecca James at Somerset House Studios in London on Wednesday 28th November. The event is called Humble Beginnings / Alternative Presents and it investigates feminist alternatives for contemporary digital culture.
The discussion is part of Rönkkö’s residency during which she spends six months without the internet and explore ways of existing in a city and a society offline. During her experiment, she leads workshops, performances, lectures and discussions. Humble Beginnings / Alternative Presents is the first one of the series.
The Finnish Institute in London is supporting the residency.
