Invisible Flock and HEZEN at the Drifts Festival in Helsinki
The sixth iteration of Drifts festival, themed Unknown Territories: Oceans, is featuring an artist talk with Sámi artist Jenni Laiti and Jessica Sim from Invisible Flock, and a performance by London-based artist HEZEN. The festival will take place on 20–24 August in two locations (Oil Silo 468 and Kulttuurisauna) in Helsinki.
The artist talk between Jessica Sim and Jenni Laiti explores the methods and practices behind the making of Voyage – a long-term artistic and activist project responding to the decline of native Atlantic salmon and the fragile ecosystems of the Deatnu River.
HEZEN’s Soothe performance takes place on 23 August. HEZEN merges experimental pop, club music, and ethereal vocals into a genre-fluid, immersive world.
Drifts is a fluid art platform that transcends cultural, geographical, and disciplinary boundaries. The platform brings together artists, practitioners, and audiences to engage with social, political, and ecological questions through artistic practices, public programmes, and temporary communities that create dynamic social spheres. It promotes artistic experimentation, shares critical knowledge, and contributes to discourses that foster a more pluralistic art scene.
Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland is supporting Jessica Sim’s and HEZEN’s travel to Helsinki for the Drifts festival.
People behind the project
HEZEN
HEZEN is a French multi-disciplinary artist & DJ based in London, as well as a @playbody.studio resident artist and curator. Her genre-fluid stories of love, loss, resilience and vulnerability explore the liminal space between the alien and the primordial, blending club music with avant-pop elements.
