Nina Rantala

Nina Rantala is a sculptor and visual artist whose practice has been grounded in dialogue and communality for nearly 30 years. In her work, she invites people to reflect on the changes in their living environment and the ways these resonate in their everyday lives. Her recent projects expand on the theme of our planetary connection through participatory and embodied sculptures, where the dialogue becomes an integral part of the work.

Rantala often collaborates within multidisciplinary teams, bringing her artistic thinking and methods into diverse contexts. She has worked with communities in Finland, Norway, Japan, France, Denmark, and now in Manchester, UK. Since 2021, she has led the multidisciplinary Apart We Shall Perish collective, which supports soil biodiversity and to create a therapeutic micro-forest at the Compass Psychiatric Hospital in Turku, Finland.
