Jaana Laakkonen in residency at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios in Dublin

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Dublin is pleased to welcome Jaana Laakkonen as the recipient of the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange. Laakkonen will travel from Helsinki to spend two months (July and August, 2023) in Dublin and work from a studio at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios. Jaana Laakkonen (b.1985 in Joensuu, Finland) is an artist currently living and working in Helsinki, Finland. In recent years her artistic practice has reflected and tested how it matters and what it means to work with paint and writing in the light (or mud!) of feminist-posthumanist critical thinking and feminist philosophy of science. Her work has been presented in Cincinnati CAC, US (2022); K17 Space for Art And Ecology, Sipoo, Finland (2022); Treignac Projet, France (2020) and as a collection of her essays published by Archive books, Germany (2021).

Since the partnership began in 2007, TBG+S and HIAP have supported over twenty artists and curators from Ireland and Finland. Now a well-established opportunity, the TBG+S/HIAP International Residency Exchange fosters opportunities for artists to gain experience, build networks internationally, engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with the HIAP community, research and make work in a new context.
