Inspired by reflections of light on ice and the metaphysical dimensions of life, artists Eija Timonen and Jaana Erkkilä-Hill’s exhibition From Under the North Star is about looking for landscape beyond reality.
Timonen spent several years photographing light that was reflected on cracks of ice. Her images are a combination of these photographs and systematic work in the studio. Erkkilä-Hill’s multi-coloured woodcuts tell a story of other worlds. The figures in her works partly resemble human beings but represent legends and spiritual creatures.
The exhibition takes place in London Print Studio and will be opened on 30th of March at 3pm by Dr. Jaakko Nousiainen, The Head of Culture in The Finnish Institute in London.
